Hanauma Bay, Oahu
This magnificent crescent-shaped beach is a must for fans of the underwater world. Its translucent waters are home to over 300 species of fish and numerous coral reefs. It is also a popular spot for surfers for its waves that break in the distance. Hanauma Bay is one of the most beautiful places in Hawaii, but is also a nature reserve. There is an entrance fee to help preserve the surrounding nature.
Waimea Canyon State Park, on the island of Kauai
Waimea Canyon State Park is located on a small, sparsely populated island, the island of Kauai. The park has been dubbed the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and is home to a variety of stunning landscapes. Visitors can see canyons, steep peaks and beautiful waterfalls on the many hiking trails that cross the park. Finally, a trip up to the main lookout of Waimea Canyon State Park is a must, as it offers a view of the entire island.
Mauna Kea volcano, on Big Island
Hawaii's largest island is also full of wonders. The highest volcano in the archipelago, Mauna Kea, is located here. At an altitude of 4,207 metres, it is a popular base for astronomical observation. The more athletic can walk to the top of the volcano, while others can opt for a 4x4 climb. Either way, being above the clouds is worth the trip according to the vast majority of travellers.
Haleakalā volcano, on the island of Maui
Another volcano that ranks among the most beautiful places in Hawaii is Haleakalā. It offers visitors beautiful lunar landscapes with numerous craters. On foot or by car, many travellers make their way to the top of the volcano, at over 3,000 metres, very early in the morning. This is a great opportunity to witness the unique sight of the sunrise over the sea of clouds.
Red Sand Beach, on the island of Maui
There are several beautiful places on the island of Maui. One of them is Red Sand Beach, also known as Kaihalulu Beach. This off-the-beaten-path beach has some unusual colours. The turquoise blue of the sea and the red of the sand make for a unique contrast. It is a well-known beach for locals, especially snorkelers.
Diamond Head, O'ahu Island
Diamond Head is one of the most beautiful and well-known spots in Hawaii. The characteristic shape of this volcanic crater dominates the island of O'ahu. A hike to the top provides a magnificent view. From the top of Diamond Head, travellers can have a clear view of the ocean, the skyscrapers of Honolulu and the beaches of Waikiki. It is therefore a spot not to be missed under any circumstances when visiting the archipelago.
Akaka Falls, on Big Island
Akaka Falls are the highest waterfalls in Hawaii, at 135 meters high. It is located in the heart of a natural park, surrounded by a lush forest. This waterfall can be discovered on foot, after a fairly easy walk through the forest. Nature lovers will be delighted to discover these beautiful waterfalls as well as the surrounding flora.
